Opening of the International Collage Art Exhibition in Retroavangarda Gallery in Warsaw

The opening of international Collage Art Exhbition took place on 12th April 2019 in Retroavangarda Gallery in Warsaw. Honorary patronage over the exhibition was shared by 3 Embassies: Embassy of Argentina, Embassy of Brazil, Embassy of Peru. The event was honored by the presence of H.E. Ana Maria Ramirez – Ambassador of Argentina and H.E. Alberto Salas Barahona – Ambassador of Peru. Many guests and artists arrived at the exhibition from various polish cities, there were also visitors from abroad. Karina Suarez, the author of three collages presented on the exhibition came from as far as Argentina. Sara Vattano, a young, talented collage artist travelled from Sicily and from the Netherlands – Ankie van Dijk, the author of a series of wonderful, minimalistic pieces also presented on the exhibition.

The exhibition gives insight into current trends in collage art, as most pieces date from 2 last years. The oldest ones are from the 1970s by William Hemmerdinger – master of collage from the USA.

The curator of the exhibition is Anna Kłos, an academic lecturer, who wrote her PhD thesis about collage art.
