Reinhard Stammer was born in 1952 and lives near Flensburg in Germany.
The art historian Dr. Ingrid Gardill writes about his art: his art is deliberately not perfect and also has anarchist traits. He starts a picture without a concept and has the brush painted. His way of working is fast, spontaneous, intuitive and very concentrated. The act of painting calms him down, he is in the moment and reacts to what is moving him. This thoroughly honest attitude springs from his original and touching works.
His paintings have their own aesthetic, sometimes reminiscent of Art Brut, or the gestural work of CY Twombly.
