Form and Illusion – Contemporary Art Exhibition
Group Exhibition
Exhibition Curator: Anna Kłos
4.03.–30.05.2025
Retroavangarda Gallery invites you to a unique contemporary art exhibition, showcasing works by world-renowned artists. The exhibition presents a rich variety of artistic techniques—ranging from painting, graphics, and drawing to collage and mixed media. Among the featured works are original prints by the master of surrealism, Salvador Dalí, and the pioneer of op-art, Victor Vasarely.
Salvador Dalí – lithograph ‘Baisemain’ (1971) is a striking example of the artist’s characteristic play with reality and symbolism. Created on thick Arches paper, hand-signed in the lower right corner, the work measures 72 x 54 cm. This surreal scene, where the gesture of a hand kiss takes on a provocative meaning, combines elegance with grotesque elements. The lithograph was published by Les Heures Claires in a limited edition of 145 copies (exhibited piece: 32/145).
Victor Vasarely – lithograph ‘Voerowch’ (1986) is a mesmerizing composition of optical illusion and geometric precision. Printed on Japanese paper, hand-signed in pencil, and numbered (VIII/LXX), this 50 x 45 cm work is a perfect example of the artist’s fascination with perception and visual dynamics.
In addition to works by these outstanding international creators, the exhibition includes pieces by renowned Polish artists, such as a graphic print by Henryk Stażewski, a leading figure of the Polish avant-garde, and an acrylic painting on canvas by Wiesław Szamborski, a key representative of the New Figuration movement in Polish art.
We invite you to explore the diverse visions and techniques that have shaped the face of contemporary art over the decades.
