Contemporary Peruvian art in Retroavangarda Gallery

On 9th January 2019 at 6PM Retroavangarda Gallery in Jerozolimskie Business Park cordially invites everyone interested to the opening of a big contemporary Peruvian art exhibition ‘Abstraction and contemporary painting of Peru’. It is a very interesting review of the most recent accomplishments of 28 Peruvian artist. Most pieces were created in 2018 and they are mostly made on small or medium sized paper in different artistic techniques (oil, acrylics, gouache, ink, linocut, lithography, collage).

This presentation of contemporary Peruvian art will be accompanied by a solo exhibition of Daniel Rodriguez from Lima. The exhibition is titled ‘Geometric Structures’ and encompasses 20 pieces of the artist from 2010-2018 time period. The main part of the exhibition consists of pieces from his newest cycle of geometric compositions done in acrylics. Despite visible inspirations from European avant-garde art, the balanced compositions and defined color palette add to Rodriguez’s pieces an individual and original character. The exhibition showcases also splendid collages which utilize pieces of packages, fabrics, different kinds of paper and paint. These pieces, created a number of years ago, are kind of a reference to the art of renown Spanish artist Antoni Tàpies.

Daniel Rodriguez is the director of Colorbox, an art group he established in 2016. This initiative’s main goal is also to promote Peruvian art in the international environment. Other members of Colorbox are also Adriana Cillóniz, Allen Ladd i Verónica Penagos.
